My favourite Landy ad, for the adventurer in all of us! While my art director got to do the out-of-Africa shoot (uh, in Botswana, Africa),
I shot the passport pic in a Joburg shopping mall The joys of being a writer! I like this ad's visual honesty: a broad-daylight 35mm shot; (no fancy ‘golden light' on this Landy!); real dirt on the windscreen; and that beard, well.
* A nice side note: Lee Clow (Chief Creative Officer of TBWA Worldwide) once visited the Johannesburg office and, after a 'What the rest of the world is doing' talk, came over to Jan and I and told us he carried this ad in his bag as an example of 'the perfect ad'. We did not believe him, until he took it out of his bag. Like? Must be that beard ... :-)
