I have been working as Lektor / Associate Professor in the Kreativ Kommunikation Department (KK) at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Copenhagen since 1 February 2013. My journey to Copenhagen began in 2010, when I was invited to teach strategy and art direction. I returned quite a few times to give classes and really enjoyed each visit. Danish folk are super nice, smart and a little, uh, unique – punching holes in their coins and crossing out their ø's ... :-)

Now I live in a commune beginning with "Ø" and teach idea generation, brand creation and portfolio presentation. The talented KK students achieve great things every year, both locally and internationally. I am most proud of their accomplishments at the international CREAM portfolio competition. In 2014, my students won four out of only 20 places ... in the world! Go Denmark!

I love the juicy topics of idea generation and presenting creative work in both graphic design and advertising. I have given talks on both subjects for the Miami Ad School (Amsterdam and Miami), the Danish School of Media and Journalism (Copenhagen and Aarhus), the AAA School of Advertising (Johannesburg), the BNO Vroaam Career Day
for designers, the New Talent Portfolio Night at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam ... and ... despite having reviewed countless portfolios, I still love seeing fresh work and giving advice and, of course, compliments!

I taught advertising concept class for the Miami Ad School Quarter Away Programme in Amsterdam for over 7 years – students came from all over the U.S. and Europe so there was always something unexpected, exciting or weird happening!
I also taught graphic design classes for a while and lectured at the school's Miami Head-Quarters in 2001 and 2007.

After teaching advertising concept class for the Miami Ad School Quarter Away Programme for many years, I had a pretty good insight into the challenges facing ad students, so I wrote 'Portfolio class with Clare' in 2008.
